Rickreall Open VII
July 16-18. It's coming up fast.
Events may include extreme bocce ball, ditchstyle, BB gun biathalon and a pump track time trial. And of course fire jumping, speed scrabble, tree climbing and a midnight mystery ride. Maybe we should bring back whiffle ball home run derby or White Trash Iron Chef?
You'll probably want a flashlight or headlamp, a towel, mosquito repellent and a bmx or mountain bike.

Rickreall Open
The Open starts tomorrow!
The weather may not be ideal, I know some were hoping for 95 and sunny so we could have a pool....but I actually prefer 72 and partly cloudy.
The Berms trail is fast and flowy. Thanks to Dabby for all the digging and shaping. Just for the record Dabby will not be attending this Open in the interest of fostering Team unity and camaraderie, but look for a newish and gradually improving Dabby in the future!
The Annex is primed for big air. Bring pads and helmets. I had a vision for nighttime hijinks that is best described as "twin fire descent"...hard to explain but you'll understand when you see it.
Remember to bring a flashlight, headlamp or lantern, sleeping bag, food to BBQ, beer and ice, mosquito repellent, hay fever meds if you get it (it's pollen city out here), Ipods or records and a BMX or mountain bike.
Also I wasn't joking about the $10 per car parking fee, so be ready for that.
And... Sweet-T and Boston have both inquired as to rides down Saturday night, anyone have extra room?
Plus! Remember to support our sponsor, The Rickreall Mini-Mart located in downtown Rickreall. Or just bring your beer money to the farm and we'll mount a massive expedition with Bob trailer or truck.

Holy shit, I got a sponsor!
The Rickreall Open presented by the Rickreall Mini Mart.
The Rickreall Quik-E-Mart presented by Team Wreck?
Either way my man Steve who runs the Mart has agreed to be a sponsor. We haven't finalized the terms, maybe 10% off beer for those that mention the RO, maybe some coozies and expired jerky, who knows?
The Mart has experienced some tough times recently with the economic slowdown and the recent failure of the main cooler and installation of the new coolers. Steve seems a little worried about the Mart's continued existence which makes me worried.
So if possible please stop at the Mart on the way to the Rickreall Open.
If you're riding down 99W keep going past Farmer Rd. and into Rickreall then take Rickreall Rd. east to Greenwood Rd. and cross the highway.
If you're driving follow 22 past Greenwood Rd. take the next exit and head south.
I suggested he stock up on PBR and High Life. If you have any special requests please leave them in the comments and I will relay them.

Rickreall Open 2009

June 12-14
I'm changing things around a little this year. No flyers, for one thing, so maybe it'll be smaller (or at least not bigger). Also I'm charging a $10 per car parking fee. No charge if you ride here.
I'm also slimming the competition aspect down in the interest of participation and getting everything done in a timely fashion. This year it's a biathalon. $5 gets you into both events and the winner gets the pot or $100 cash whichever is more.
Road Race - Noon on Sunday.
A 15 mile loop through the Eola Hills. See the map with elevation here. Neutral start for the first mile. The start line is the stop sign at Farmer Rd. and Oak Grove Rd. King of the Mountains bonus points will be available at the top of the Orchard Heights and Eagle Crest, at 3.2 and 10.5 miles. I hope to have a caravan or at least one vehicle to take pictures, hand out water and note the top 3 on the climbs.
Time Trial - The 2.4 Minutes of Rickreall - anytime, one official attempt each day.
How many laps of the Berms of Endearment mini loop can you do in 2 minutes 25 seconds?
I'm sure many of the traditional side competitions will still take place, just organized by people other than me. For instance Mace may announce he's having a bocce ball tournament, it's $1 to enter, winner takes all. Or Phil could host a speed scrabble game that is free to enter and the winner gets a signed picture of him doing something nasty to a bike.
And of course count on the usual debauchery. Dance parties, ditchstyle, fire jumping, exotic beverages, tree climbing, midnight mystery rides etc.

Rickreall Open 5
Another successful Open. Drew won the overall and a $300 travel voucher to represent Team WRECK at the NACCC in Chicago. If I can secure some sponsors I'd like to offer a ticket to CMWC Tokyo as the grand prize next year.I think this guy said his name was Lance and he was from Keizer.
At the firepit.
Divebomb nursing a shin wound after the time trial.
If only she had utilized Mace's bark armor.
At the start of the road race.
Drew was motivated.
Realizing I'm second. Though I tried to catch back on the downhill I knew it was futile.
Dabby at the turnaround.
I directed Jaden to get some closeups. "Get up in their grill!"

The Rickreall Open V
This Open promises to be the best yet. Scheduled for July 25-27 this year to intersect with the Sesqicentennial of the Farmer Family Farm. That will be fun, plus this year I've decided to make it a real race, with a real prize, a ticket to Chicago to compete in the NACCC while flying the Team WRECK colors. I haven't settled on a format yet but I'm thinking about an omnium that features a rural alleycat that involves climbing through barns, a time trial through the woods, extreme bocce ball and speed scrabble. I think that covers the skills necessary to succeed in a championship race in Chicago.
Also, I'm done with Rootbeer Schnapps. The new midnight drink is the 44 Cordial.
